A BRITISH TRANSITIONAL 6 SHOT REVOLVER BY PARKER FIELD & SON, 233 HIGH HOLBORN LONDON. .44 cal. with microgroove rifling. Serial number 1288. This is the high quality English transitional revolver with a cylinder that moves forward, when fired to form a gas seal. The octagonal barrel is mounted with a Parker Field registered rammer, the frame is very finely engraved, the checkered butt is mounted with a cap-box and it has a silver escutcheon bearing a family crest in the form of a goat on a coronet. The condition is excellent, with no pitting and a very nice even dark patins, and it is in very good, crisp working order. 6” barrel, 13 ½” overall length, circa 1845.
